Canada Hosts Education Fairs in Malaysia to Attract International Students

Canadian education providers and representatives of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) will visit Malaysian cities during February to promote studying in Canada to Malaysian students.

Representatives from Canadian universities will be available to give advice and answer a range questions about the admission requirements for the September 2012 intake of engineering, business, actuarial sciences, biotechnology, computer science and pre-university studies.

The Canadian High Commission in Malaysia, who organises the fairs, said that "Canada offers consistently high-quality, affordable education and internationally recognized credentials in over 10,000 study programmes".

Canada has become an attractive destination for international students due to:

• its multicultural population and vast natural beauty, which create a welcoming and healthy environment for foreign students;
• a number of Canadian universities are in the world's top 100;
• comparatively low annual tuition fees and living costs.

International students at Canadian public post-secondary institutions can gain valuable work experience on-campus, and may be eligible for off-campus work in Canada during the school year and study breaks.

Many post-secondary programmes provide work placements and cooperative education opportunities.
