Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has issued a Call for Proposals (CFP) for settlement programs and other services to help new Canadian citizens thrive in their new home.

The CFP will determine which projects will be funded for 2013 and beyond. Funds are allocated towards language training and other settlement and resettlement services which address newcomers' needs, supporting their establishment and eventual integration into Canadian society.

"The Call for Proposals process is an important way to solicit service delivery opportunities that will benefit newcomers, such as language training and career counselling, and ensure we are getting best value for taxpayers' dollars," said Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney.

These services would be invaluable in helping Canadian immigrants integrate into their new communities, according to the Minister.

The scope of these projects can range from the local, regional, national or even international levels. The provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba and Quebec have separate funding for the delivery of settlement services and are therefore not included as eligible regions for the call for proposals, but can be eligible if they are national or international in scope.

The deadline to submit proposals is September 7, 2012.
