On last provincial nomination draw held last week, the province of British Columbia issued a total of 365 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to foreign talents and international graduates currently working in the country. The ITA, which is actually a confirmation statement sent via email, serves as a formal invite to apply for permanent residency.

The invites were distributed to five different sub-categories under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), the province's official nomination scheme.

The candidates, who are now in a position to submit a formal application to the province, are scrutinized and evaluated through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

Latest BC PNP Draw details: Express Entry BC-Skilled Worker: 64 invitations; (85 minimum required pts) Express Entry BC-International Graduate: 58; (80 pts) Skills Immigration-Skilled Worker: 129; (77 pts) Skills Immigration-International Graduate: 72; (75 pts) Skills Immigration-Entry Level and Semi-Skilled: 42; (50 pts)

Sub-categories BC-Skilled worker and BC-International Graduate are aligned with the Express Entry scheme of the federal government. This means that the applicants who obtained an ITA from the government of British Columbia were from the federal government’s pool of candidates. The remaining sub-categories, however, were from the BC PNP pool and scored through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

The government of British Columbia also reminded the public that the ITA issued by the BC PNP is different from the one issued by the Federal Government of Canada through the Express Entry Program.
