The Skilled Worker Stream permits the nomination of an applicant with specialized skills and experience who fills a labour market need in Prince Edward Island. In particular, there are currently openings for workers in aerospace, information technologies and bioscience, among others.

The Critical Worker Stream is a pilot program. There are five occupations selected for initial inclusion: truck drivers, customer service representatives, labourers, food & beverage servers and housekeeping attendants.
Successful applicants and holders of a Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program Visa become permanent residents of Canada. Permanent residents are entitled to live, work and study in Canada on a permanent basis.
Additional benefits of Canadian permanent residence includes access to government-subsidized education and state of the art healthcare (Medicare), as well as unrestricted access to Canada's labour market and associated insurance and pension benefits. Permanent residents also have the ability to apply for Canadian citizenship and the opportunity to sponsor family members to join them in Canada.
